Kao što sam i obećao, evo i drugog dela Oline priče o autostopiranju. Uživajte.
With a group of people I was going from Germany to Netherlands to visit our friend, Piotr. We were divided into pairs and at 9 pm me and my partner were the only ones who got relatively close to the destination, around 15 km away. A couple drove us to a dark gas station, gave some sweets for goodbye and left us there to catch another car. At this point we wanted to call Piotr to come by car because there was almost no one around and anyway it was quite a success to get as close. However, we didn't even have time to start discussing what to do, when THE guy approached us.
Him: Hi, are you hitchhiking? Cool! Do you need help? I can give you a lift to Zwolle.
Us: Uhm, thanks, but we're going to Dronten (what was in the opposite direction).
Him: To Dronten? Why? Come on, I'll drive you to Zwolle, it's not far.
Us: No, really, thanks, our friend is waiting for us in Dronten, actually we may call him now so he will pick us up.
Him: Hm, ok... (thinks a little) I know, I can drive you to Zwolle so you take a bus from there!
Us (a little impatient): We are just coming from this direction, thanks.
He asked us some friendly questions, then left us and went to buy something at the gas station. We were looking at the map trying to determine on which exit we are.
Him (coming back): You know, I just have to help you. Come, I will drive you to the bus stop in the direction of Dronten.
We were still a little reluctant but his too big friendliness was difficult to overcome. Yeah, it's easy for you now to see that he was insisting a little too much and it's suspicious, but at this time of the day (late evening), year (February), with this weather and with no cars around we didn't feel like waiting any longer. Just when we got to his car, he gave me some funny looking cookie. I asked what's this and the answer was: 'Just eat...'. At this point his creepy smile would really make me stay at the empty gas station even for the whole night but it was too late - we were in his car and he already started driving...
The conversation in the beginning was rather normal. Where are we from, why are we there at this time of year, how is the travel going...
Him: So you're very lucky I helped you. It's not the best place to hitchhike and you know, it's very dangerous, drivers are afraid of hitchhikers, sometimes hitchhikers want to rob them, you know...
Us: Uh-huh.
Him: They have guns, you know, they put them to your head and say 'give me money', you know.
Us: Mhm.
Him: But I'm not afraid, you know? I'm not afraid, because I have this!
At this point he took out of his pocket... a gun. It was small and didn't actually look like these ones Rambo uses but somehow we didn't feel like asking him if it's real ;) He was driving with one hand, holding the gun in the other one and explaining us why he's not afraid of us. Cool. I really, really wished we stayed at the gas station but what's surprising, I was just angry at myself that he will probably rob us. I didn't think he could kill us and I didn't even panic. We didn't know what to answer him, so we just casually pretended everything is normal (I even took a bite of his strange cookie :)) and continued conversation like nothing happened.
Us: Well... So, is the bus stop far from here? If it's a problem, we can get off here...
Him: No, no, it's ok, I'll drive you all the way there, but you will have to go by bus. You pay 2 € for a ticket... Do you have 2 €?
Us: YES!!!
The first thing that came to our minds was that if we don't have 2 €, he will drive us further :) When he finally stopped I was kind of expecting him to say something like 'now, hands up, gimme your bags!' but instead he left his car and run to the bus stop to check if there are any more buses going that evening to Dronten. We started to assure him that we will be all right and prayed that he would not decide to help us any more :)
Him: So there is a bus in 20 minutes. Do you have 2 €? I can give you, do you want?
Us: No, thank you very much, we have money for the bus, you are very kind! (...now go away and leave us alone, you freak! ;))
Him: Are you sure? Ok... I cannot wait with you but if the bus doesn't come you can call me and I will come back to drive you further, no problem. Do you want my phone number?
You can easily guess we never called him :) Our friend picked us up from the bus station 10 minutes later and he couldn't believe in our story. Only then we realized what could have happened and we decided not to hitchhike ever again.
A week later we had to come back the same route to Poland :) But this time we started traveling in the morning and didn't have any problems like that. There were some colorful people offering us a ride, including a transsexual truck driver who kept showing us on his laptop (placed on the driving wheel) hundreds of pictures from parties like this and this, but that was even nice :)
All in all I didn't write this to scare you off; hitchhiking is for people and definitely it's a great experience. My adventure luckily didn't end bad but that can be a warning: after all if you decide to travel like this, you never know who you meet on your way.

Hvala u Olino ime :). :)
